The most problems we have seen are hand-loads that fail to fire. they do make one with a side gate now. The .35 will probably have a little accuracy edge. Back when I was testing out their new extractor claw, Ranger Point Precision was also nice enough to send me one of their front and rear sight assemblies to try out.

There’s no quick way of getting at it, being that to do it properly, it requires removing the stock, bolt, and hammer assembly. Attend matches, keep score, pick up brass and ask questions. The stainless steel barreled action of the 336SS is a definite plus. A bit of the top right side of the receiver was milled away and the internals slightly modified to throw spent cases out at enough of an angle to the right to clear a centrally mounted scope. I can print 2 shots touching at 100 yards but haven't dropped an animal with it yet. As to the OP, I only know of two folks that use the HBB personally. But I have found the .35 to be more accurate and think it is a great round that also does not get the recognition it deserves. The front sight does not need to be drifted for adjustment. I already had a Vaquero, so I bought the rest of the Vaqueros, Single Six and Henry Frontier for trainers, the Marlin and the Stoeger, waited forever, then the Stoeger died. And so I say to anyone who wants it to enjoy the Big Boy. Price does not concern me in the least... reliability does.
Perhaps the biggest advantage possessed by the Marlin 336 is its solid top receiver, which allows a telescopic sight to be mounted low and overbore using a one-piece base (as opposed to a side mount or two-piece base).
