I do feel for a lot of people here, particularly those that live in apartment blocks where the music or whatever noise just blasts through the walls.

Still, when noise disputes do happen, city workers come in to run audio tests and determine if the complaints are legitimate. They also clap and cheer.

I simply explained that I was sitting in my lounge room trying to get a bit of peace and quiet and I couldn't because all I could hear was their music. I have no idea why the fact that there are only 2 or 3 parties a year (OR btw the notification thing of 'we are going to have a party')- that that somehow makes it OK to keep someone up for hours on end. Anyway, after 6 months off putting up with this rubbish (I initially didn't let it get to me cos you know, everyone likes listening to music right?) My street is fairly peaceful, unfortunately, on an adjacent street some 100 metres away lives some very inconsiderate people who continuously blast their unbearable bass music from around noon til late evening every Sat & Sun (not sure about weekdays as I work early and come home late).Sadly, every weekend, the same annoying beats can be heard loud and clear – right through my closed roller shutters, locked windows and even with all the external and internal doors closed tightly. I practiced music before 10pm (legal time before 10dcb limit or whatever it is).

It was that doof doof doof...hour after hour after hour. Unfortunately most people would suggest that loud music is unreasonable at any time.

The suggestion that people need to ...er, 'chill' occasionally,-and 'enjoy' themselves/ that we are 'over-sensitive', or that we are 'less tolerant' is a crock of hit (with a silent S). My dad once went over and knocked on the door and politely told them to turn it down at about 1:30am but he got yelled abuse at and nearly chased down the street. There is very clearly drunken, rowdy and disruptive behaviour within their unit and the common area but besides that there's also slamming doors and other loud banging sounds at any time of the day and night. Also call the Sydney Police head office and lodge a complaint that your local police are ignoring WILLFUL LAW BREAKING! Keep calling the police everytime they are loud and keep getting police event numbers. It is quite annoying especially when I have a migraine or i'm trying to sleep.

But when I rang to report, they ask if I'm willing to make a statement if they pay me a visit and I said yes.

Home theatre systems can be just as loud and intrusive as any party.

Thankfully, new house we're renting is awesomely quiet and with normal neighbours. Good luck to you!

We could hear them quite clearly through the walls, which was highly unpleasant! However, there’s one last option we haven’t talked about — building rules. All my other neighbours are great and I don't hear any noise from them. No but you get used to it , even a few mumbles now and again lol.. After all, these are people you’re going to have to live with for years and possibly decades to come. They invade my 14 year old's privacy in bathroom when she has her monthly's and yell out "don't tell me she has her period again" (so the whole neighbourhood can hear). I would imagine that most agents wouldn't want 10+ people in a 4br house. I was abused.

No matter what it's likely going to be a 12-month wait and hope the lease it not renewed or they decide to move on I guess.

So I rang the police.

They even stopped inviting friends over because they know they cannot make excessive noise or I will come knocking with the Police.

Ultimately, if you live in the U.S. and you have a neighbor who won’t stop blasting their tunes day in, day out, I’m afraid that the law isn’t likely to be on your side. Every day I'm now getting home from work at about 6-7pm and the first thing I hear is either children screaming or loudly playing in the common area.

neighbours playing loud music during the day

After receiving too many It's really terrible, these couple of bogans moved in next door and have caused havoc ever since. For me 2 or 3 times a year with this kind of noise is unbearable, I dont know if i'm being exaggerated but i just cant stand the noise that they are making.

I hear ya! You can hear EVERYTHING. I called the EPA again, they got fined, they laid low for a few weeks then the music started playing again.

So it took no effort at all to reach out and give the wall a few sharp knocks. The neighbour above me were party animals. drown them out. If this happened again I don't think I'd bother saying anything and if things were too bad I'd just move. After a few nights of this I went and knocked on their door.

My immediate neighbours are good too. Once you know the laws, you might be able to simply call the police to get things taken care of quickly. Of course, that doesn’t mean that people can make all the noise they want outside of those hours.

There are also certain decibel levels that need to be adhered to.

What Grit Sandpaper to Remove Paint From Wood. Rubbish!

your apartment complex.

Good of you to check in, given that the topic is about you.

Depending on how much money you have to spend, this will either be practical or impossible. One of my neighbours is pretty noisy as well.

For example, if you’re working out of your home office, you’d probably like to have peace and quiet all day long, not just at night.

I doubt that you need to embellish the report like that. Look up the noise laws in

.

You should be able to discover what the noise laws are in your city without having to dig too deeply. Just imagine the sort of chaos that situation would create over time. Seriously why can they just grow up!

I have a friend at work who has just had half the population of a small pacific island move into the house next door, unsure of exact numbers.

They would forget about how loud they are, just like i once used to. Don't matter if during the day or night.

The neighbours are oblivious to the effect of their alarm on the neighbourhood (I know I'm not the only one who hates it). If it's the same agent that would be great as it sounds like it's helped in your situation. I'm glad to have found this forum but...is there even a thread of hope for our neighbourhood? QLD Police are not a help as they are not generally available. Perhaps they'll play a few songs you cna hum along to. and how intolerant people have become also! Not only noisy music is a common complaint, but so are air conditioners, pool pumps, washing machines etc! Noise...in...Canberra????? We've had a lousy Australia Day because of noisy neighbours 3 house away on the opposite side of the street. You could also consider

I do agree with this, what if some of us is sick and need a good rest? Talk to your Strata about it. You weren't afraid to stand up for your right to enjoy your life.

We live in a quiet street of a quiet neighbourhood (mostly young families and the elderly) and these people have moved into the house and started their "hair and beauty salon" (which I see get not one customer go in or out of all day). It's pretty obvious to me, from many of these stories on this thread, that some people havn't got a brain between their ears. All of it failed. I have a similar problem, Next door neighbour(Young adult not living with parents) seems to enjoy playing music with lots of bass in the early hours of the morning, The fact he does this at random times between 10pm & 7am has me convinced he's either on drugs or he just doesn't give a flap about others. You can't get rid of that with earplugs. As I'm a woman living on my own, I've had this constant nasty attitude towards me that I have no right over my own property & so they continue because the police have always supported them, despite me having tapes from a security camera as proof, (a police officer told me to get it, after having to put up with fruit, eggs, etc, being thrown at my home, after telling the kids the 3rd time, to stay off of my property) which the police would not look at (even the 16th birthday party of the younger teenager in early December 2008, when I had 3 teenagers walking backwards up my driveway mooning me & my letterbox got smashed & of course verbal abuse, because the younger teenager incited them against me, saying it had been me calling the police, as "it's her over there, she has the camera" – I hadn't called the police, but after the above happened I then did so, they did nothing & I have never been contacted about it, nor been requested for the tape to prove what I said). Excuse me. When my neighbours go out, they set the alarm to on, and it makes a BEEP BEEP noise that is loud enough to wake us.
