I started at the slide on a Thursday at 8::30am, no crowds. We parked at the Cucumber Picnic Area (although we did go back too far because the trail sign is quite small and off the the left of the initial parking). Cucumber Falls never disappoints though. • This trail traverses the Laurel Ridge from Ohiopyle to the northern end near Johnstown. we started at the lowest point and hiked up. 7.1 km It was PACKED with people, I barely found a parking spot. 1,525' Down 633.74 m Down, 9.3 mi The falls were very crowded but past that there was little traffic. If social distancing is what you’re worried about during this stupid pandemic, maybe find a new hobby. Really enjoyed the section leading up to Cucumber Falls as the trail weaves in and out along the large flat rock portions of the river for multiple views. 1,527' Up The trail is a little hard on the way to cucumber falls, than pretty flat for a good bit than steep to the end. 2,139' Down The trailhead starts out pretty muddy by the river and can be tough to navigate. 2,139' Up The end location isn’t anything much either. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. My mistake was going on a hot Saturday afternoon.

A little misleading as the trail just ends at an intersection with no destination. Not a problem as it’s not very overgrown. Probably will be gorgeous in the fall when the leaves change though. The only downside to this trail is there is no real lookout point of the river unless you hop on the Bike Trail at the end.The end of this trail puts you at the bottom of Cucumber Falls and at the trailhead for the Meadow Run Trail.
for those looking for a challenging hike, this is not it . You can bathe carefully and cheer on kayakers and rafters.
