This is something I’ve known for a while, having visited Idaho for the first time back when I was 18.

Moderately hiked by other people but not overcrowded. There are so many that I did a hot springs road trip back in February with the sole purpose of soaking in as many springs as possible. The OR Gulch Loop utilizes Oregon Gulch Trail, Oregon - Fox Connector Trail, Chocolate Gulch Trail, and Saddle Trail to make an approximately 11.5 mile loop. Difficulty: Easy – Moderate Access: Croy Creek Trailhead approximately 6 miles out of Hailey. Always a great hike. This trail can be done a variety of ways and linked in with many other trails to create a great longer hike or loop. With more time I’d take the Oregon gulch trail that branches off near the fox creek. We ended up doing Fox Creek to get back. Description: One of the most rewarding, fun, and awe-inspiring rides within the Wood River Valley. Really lovely trail. The only issue is that I took a wrong turn in the middle of the hike and ended up on Fox Creek Trail. Under 5 mi as recorded by 2 devices. The popular trail offers a great combination of mid-summer wildflowers, views of the Boulder Mountains, and a smooth trail along the Big Wood River if done as a loop.

It may have been better to do the trail clockwise as there is direct sun on that part of the trail and the end part is shady. Trails are compared with nearby trails in the same city region with a possible 25 colour shades. The trail was in great condition. The next segment of the trail is a fast flowy singletrack with some slightly rocky parts as it weaves through aspen clusters with glowing yellow leaves.

With more time I’d take the Oregon gulch trail that branches off near the fox creek. Good balance of inclines and easy flats! Depending on the time of year, Ketchum/Sun Valley is perfect for skiing and snowshoeing or in my case, marveling at the dozens of varieties of wildflowers in June. This loop starts with a gradual incline across the meadow and quickly becomes encompassed by the burned forest interspersed with neon yellow leaves from the regrowth.

984.2 m Up Beginning at the Adam’s Gulch trailhead, pedal along Lane’s/Sunnyside Trail traversing the hillside. Think of this as a heatmap, more rides = more kinetic energy = warmer colors. That said, the caves are nice and cool.

The view at the highest point is stunning, but the hike offers visual interest the whole way.

The trail is in excellent condition. Total mileage was 5 miles starting with an ascent and ending with a descent.

Because the gently graded trail loops all aspects of the hillside, it’s a stunning place to enjoy both sunrise and sunset. So be very careful you stay on the proper trail. From the saddle through the grassy hills, riders are engulfed by remarkable views of the Pioneer Mountains, Mahoney Butte, and sweeping hillsides of burned forest with a carpet of fall colors.

Descent is on the tougher side of Sun Valley trails, very rocky at the top and lots of decent sized rocks in the singletrack lower down but nothing too crazy. • Dogs are also able to use this trail. The hike should have taken 1.5 hours and ended up being 2.5.

• The wildflowers have just passed their peak. We found the second half - along the river - to be more scenic, so for those who are not going to do the whole loop, recommend starting clockwise (to the left from the trailhead).

Very challenging trail run. It’s a primitive spring in the Boise National Forest and the parks fee is five dollars. Wasn’t my favorite hike in the area but a nice easy work out with some decent views of the area.

2,985' Up Otherwise, on day two, sit back and enjoy the drive along the Payette River, which is absolutely stunning. 1,610' Up I’ve only soaked in them during the day, but I can just imagine how magical they would be at night for campers! Great trail.

It’s always been a lovely capital city and university town with a great vibe, but the alternative side downtown has grown like crazy and I am here for it! During the spring and summer this trail is a very scenic route to take. The air expresses a distinct chill and the golden glow of autumn is illuminating the landscapes of the Wood River Valley – the famed “Two Wheeled Nirvana.” Among the 400+ miles of singletrack in the area, several mountain bike trails hit the fall-riding sweet-spot. 490.81 m Up Download the map because there are a few different intersecting trails and chocolate gulch is not marked on all the signs. This was an okay trail. Great for my dog. We did it counter clockwise. Highly recommend this hike as there was good variation in scenery (trees, mountains, interesting rock formations and a creek and a river).

For extra distance, this trail is often combined with the Chocolate Gulch Loop.

Chocolate Gulch A beautiful loop that winds up through open woods to a view over the Smoky Range and then drops back through barren chocolate- colored rocks to the Big Wood River and a return to the trailhead. Agree counterclockwise if you're doing the whole loop.

I did a two-hour horseback ride in the morning with Mystic Saddle Ranch and thought it was the perfect overview of the area. Lots of shade for most of the hike.
